Sick Policy

The health of our children is everyone’s priority and it is the responsibility of our staff and families to keep our community as healthy as possible. If your child is feeling under the weather, please  remember, home is the best place for them to be.

There are particular cases where your child must be picked up or stay home. If the child is showing signs of having a communicable disease, fever or rash, has been exposed to a contagious disease, or has a condition considered highly contagious including: strep throat, pinworms, viral infection, infected ears and/or glands, measles, mumps, chickenpox, scarlet fever, lice, conjunctivitis, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Fever

A fever at or above 100.4 degrees is a reason to stay home or be picked up.  Children may return when they have been fever free without the help of any medicine for at least 24 hours.

Diarrhea

Having a bowel movement that is not contained in the diaper for diapered children or causing “accidents” for potty trained children are reasons to stay home or be picked up. Children may return when they have had normal stools for a period of at least 24 hours.

Vomiting

Any vomiting is a need to stay home or be picked up. Children may return when they have been symptom free for at least 36 hours.

Siblings

Should one of your children have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, we must have you keep your other child/children home to help stop the spread of infection. We apologize for any inconvenience.
